Dr Georgios Laganas — neurologist, psychiatrist and philologist, and former Director of Healthcare of the National Guard in Cyprus — gives the 35th Annual Lecture in Memory of Constantine Leventis at the A. G. Leventis Gallery in Nicosia.
His talk, "Greek Scholar–Physicians (15th – 19th Centuries)", looks at a little-known side of well-known European figures: people famous for literature, art, science or politics who trained and worked as doctors. The focus is on Greek physicians and scholars of earlier centuries, who studied at a time when learning was far harder to reach.
The evening also presents the book "The Georgios and Markisia Laganas Art Collection: A Donation to the A. G. Leventis Gallery". The lecture is organised with the A. G. Leventis Foundation and the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia, held in Greek in the Constantine Leventis Auditorium. Booking is required and the auditorium doors close at 19:40.
