A century after Walter Gropius's Bauhaus building in Dessau opened, the Cyprus-German Cultural Association marks the anniversary with an evening of lectures at CYENS in Nicosia, part of the Weeks of the German Language.
Architect Karin Georgiades opens with a short look back at the Bauhaus and its wide influence. Prof. Marios C. Phocas (University of Cyprus, Department of Architecture) then gives the lecture "From the Bauhaus Workshop to Today's Digital Workshop": how the Bauhaus brought together knowledge, materials, craft and technology in the act of building, and how digital design, computer-aided processes and automated fabrication create new forms of collaboration today.
