Diatopos Centre of Contemporary Art in Nicosia shows A Planet in Common, a solo exhibition by Yiannos Economou curated by Daphne Nikita.
The artist looks at the widening gap between people and nature: humans stay in the background, visible only through roads, buildings and aeroplanes, while animals moving through a man-made landscape take the lead. The centrepiece is a multi-channel video installation built around a real dispute between a cat and two crows in the artist's neighbourhood — animals that look straight back into the lens and challenge the human observer.
Open Monday to Friday evenings and Saturday mornings; morning visits on weekdays by arrangement.
