Good afternoonkind.events

Join us at the Aigaia Theatre for Vigil for Pentheus, a compelling theatrical research performance that delves into the fragile nature of civilisation. Originally debuted at the Adios Horos Festival in Athens under the artistic direction of Stathis Livathinos, this thought-provoking production now arrives in Nicosia for a limited run.
Drawing inspiration from the tragic imagery of Euripides, the performance weaves together a rich tapestry of philosophical, religious, and historical texts. Through a blend of visual art and historical documentation, the piece invites the audience to reflect on the concept of progress and the shadows of the past.
At the core of the narrative is Walter Benjamin’s 'Angel of History,' inspired by Paul Klee’s Angelus Novus. The performance poses a haunting question: is the collapse of civilisation a future threat, or has it been a constant companion to humanity throughout history?
This is a unique opportunity to engage with a deeply intellectual and artistic exploration of our collective history. We look forward to welcoming you to the theatre.
