Exploring Cypriot Narratives: A Participatory Workshop
Join us for an engaging workshop inspired by Nurture Karagil’s installation, “Unpacking the Inherited / A Participatory Installation on the Myths and Rumors of Cyprus.” This is a unique opportunity to delve into the rich tapestry of stories, myths, and perceptions surrounding Cyprus.
What to Expect:
This workshop builds upon the installation, which encourages visitors to share their own connections to Cyprus through words, phrases, or drawings. You'll have the chance to work with collected fragments, add your personal experiences, and contribute to a deeper exploration of the island's complex history and narratives.
Through shared discussions and personal storytelling, we will collectively examine the rumors, stereotypes, and unspoken aspects of Cypriot identity. The session culminates in creating "To Whom It May Concern" letters, using a blend of text, drawing, and collage.
While Cyprus serves as our starting point, the creative process may lead us to explore universal themes, imagine ideal futures, and define the values that shape our world.
Become Part of the Art:
Your creations will become an integral part of the exhibition, displayed throughout its run. Let your imagination and hope guide you in this creative endeavor!
Participation in this workshop is free of charge.
