TRACKS: From Stone to Concrete — Cypriot rap live

TRACKS: From Stone to Concrete is a music and audiovisual performance by young Cypriot musicians, MCs and visual artists at Rialto Theatre in Limassol, part of the Flash Art Festival.

It traces a route from the stone neighbourhoods and limestone walls of old Nicosia to the concrete and fast-growing skyline of coastal Limassol. The starting point is the freestyle rap cyphers that sprang up in Faneromeni Square from 2016, where the Cypriot dialect turned from everyday speech into contemporary poetry. Spoken word and rap meet live clarinet and percussion, while processed images of both cities fill the stage.

The performance lasts 50 minutes; a €30 festival pass is also available.
