Glytzisto Festival: A Taste of Koilani Tradition
Join us for the Glytzisto Festival, a heartwarming celebration of sweetness, family, and the enduring traditions of Koilani village. This special event offers a unique opportunity to witness firsthand how the local delicacy, Glytzisto, is prepared by the village women.
Glytzisto, a confectionary masterpiece, is crafted from delicate pastry strips braided together, fried to perfection, and then bathed in syrup. It's finished with a delightful sprinkle of crushed almonds, cinnamon, and sugar – a truly divine treat!
Renowned for its exquisite taste and artistic appearance, Glytzisto is affectionately known as the "Koilanian lace of confectionery" and is proudly recognized on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list of Cyprus.
Beyond the festival, explore the charming village of Koilani. Visit its small museums and wineries, which will be open for the occasion. Wander through picturesque alleys, savor authentic Cypriot hospitality with a cup of Cyprus coffee at a traditional coffee shop, and immerse yourself in the vibrant sounds of Cypriot traditional music and dancing.
The festival also features a captivating photo exhibition, a dedicated playground for children, and a wonderful selection of local delicacies and handicrafts available for tasting and purchase.
