Danae Patsalou: Time, Memory, and Renewal
Join us for Danae Patsalou's captivating second solo exhibition at The Edit Gallery, an exploration of time, memory, and renewal. Through a poetic interplay of imagery, the exhibition reveals how hidden aspects of our world and past come to light, much like the dawn breaking over a landscape or archaeological discoveries surfacing from the earth.
Patsalou's paintings and drawings invite viewers to witness moments of revelation, where the unseen gradually becomes visible. The artwork draws parallels between the transformative power of light at sunrise and the way memories emerge from the depths of our past. Time is presented not as a linear progression, but as a rich, multilayered experience where past and present converge, unlocking long-held meanings.
The exhibition features two distinct series of smaller works:
- A collection inspired by the intricate plant reliefs of Rome's Ara Pacis monument, reinterpreted with rhythmic and carefully composed designs.
- A series that captures the serene stillness of dawn, as gentle light slowly unveils the surrounding world.
Together, these pieces beautifully connect the acts of archaeological excavation and the dawning of a new day, symbolizing both the return of what was and the emergence of what is to come.
Opening Reception:
Join the artist on Saturday, March 21, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
