Get ready for a special anniversary edition of the Countryside Animafest! This year, the festival moves to the charming village of Koilani in the Limassol district, offering a unique blend of rural beauty and world-class animation. Since 2002, this event has been a cornerstone of the animation scene in southern Europe, and this 25th-anniversary celebration promises to be the most immersive one yet.

What to Expect

• Diverse Screenings: Enjoy a curated selection of films, including an international competition featuring 30 works from 17 countries, and a national competition highlighting Cypriot talent.
• Young Audiences: A dedicated international competition for younger viewers will be judged by children and teenagers, with evening screenings held outdoors under the stars.
• Creative Workshops: Join a hands-on animation workshop for families on August 6 at the Environmental Centre in Koilani. Additionally, there will be a two-day oral history workshop led by Dr. Nicoletta Demetriou.
• New Experimental Stage: Discover fresh perspectives with a new stage dedicated to experimental films and audiovisual performances by emerging artists.
• Live Music: Experience the village nights filled with melodies from outstanding local bands and solo musicians.

Festival Highlights

This year’s official poster, featuring striking deep blue and fiery orange hues, was designed by the renowned German filmmaker Andreas Hykade. Local artists are also collaborating with the Association of Graphic Designers and Illustrators to create special visuals for the Fairy Tale Museum in Koilani.
