Agropoetics: Soils / Bodies
Discover the Intersection of Art and Land
We invite you to explore Agropoetics: soils/bodies, a thought-provoking group exhibition hosted at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Curated by Dr. Elena Parpa, this exhibition is a highlight of the Cultural Programme for the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.
What to Expect
Featuring works from over fifty historical and contemporary Cypriot artists, the exhibition offers a deep dive into the concept of "landscape." Rather than viewing the land simply as a backdrop, the artists explore it as a living ecosystem, a cultural construct, and a site of historical and political significance. By adopting an "ecological eye," the exhibition invites visitors to reconsider our relationship with the earth—moving away from an anthropocentric perspective toward one that is more empathetic and poetic.
Highlights of the Programme
Beyond the main exhibition, there is a rich parallel programme designed to deepen your engagement with these themes:
- Film Screenings: Don't miss Only Terrestrial, a three-day film programme curated by Dr. Róisín Tapponi (Sasha Movies) with contributions from Dr. Olga Kourelou.
- Symposium: Join the discussion at Oiko-nomia: Peasant Women, Invisible Others, and Resilience, organized in collaboration with the Celadon Center for Arts & Ecologies.
- Educational Resources: The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive publication featuring insights from over thirty writers, poets, and social scientists.
Whether you are interested in the intersection of art and ecology or simply looking for a meaningful cultural experience, this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to reflect on our place in the world. Keep an eye out for upcoming announcements regarding the specific dates and times for the parallel events.
