Join us in Paralimni for a vibrant community festival celebrating the rich heritage and customs of Cyprus! On Saturday, April 4, 2026, the courtyard of the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios will come alive with tradition, creativity, and connection.
Organized by the Paralimni Youth Association as part of the Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia's "Fones tziai Thymises" festival, this free event is dedicated to preserving and sharing our living heritage.
What to Expect:
- Experiential Workshops (10:00 - 14:00): Immerse yourself in traditional crafts, explore unique musical instruments, try your hand at writing Cypriot improvisational poetry (tsiattista), and hear captivating village stories from those who remember another era. A special "Human Library" will allow you to connect directly with these cultural storytellers.
- Traditional Kafeneio: Enjoy authentic Cypriot coffee brewed on embers, homemade lemonade, and delicious spoon sweets. Relax with a friendly game of backgammon.
- Food Stalls: Delicious food options will be available throughout the day.
- Afternoon Program: Following a midday break, enjoy short speeches and witness the award ceremony for the student competition "Paralimni of Then in the Now," featuring tsiattista poetry and painting from local schools. You'll even have the chance to vote for the People's Choice award!
This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community and experience the heart of Cypriot culture. We look forward to seeing you there!
