Hike with Cyprus Hikers

The hike on Sunday, March 8, will take place in the Pentadaktylos mountain range. The route is linear, rich in vegetation and offers beautiful views of the limestone-rich Pentadaktylos Mountains, as well as panoramic views of the villages and the town of Kyrenia by the sea. The total length of the hike will be about 17 km, and the difficulty level is medium (2 on a scale of 1 to 3). The trail starts opposite the summit of Pentadaktylos, passes near Buffavento Castle (there will be no time to climb up to the castle) and ends at the abbey and village of Bellapais. You will have time to explore the village and visit the abbey. The total duration of the hike, including breaks, will be about 5 hours.

The walk starts at 10:00 a.m. George and Stathis will lead this walk, which will take place even in case of light rain; if you need to, call 99492628 (George) or 99839585 (Stathis).

Two buses (54 seats each) will be organized to pick up participants from Nicosia and take them to the starting point of the hike. At the end of the hike, the buses will pick up participants from the village of Bellapais and take them back to Nicosia. The bus fare (round trip) will be €12. Hike participants must arrive by 9:00 a.m. at the closed Lefkoheo Sports Center (next to Makaron Stadium), where there is ample parking. Buses will depart promptly at 9:00 a.m.

All participants must register to take part in the hike. To do so, please send an email to [email protected] as soon as possible. Please indicate (a) the number of people who will be with you, (b) their names, and (c) your group's contact phone number. Once you receive confirmation, you will need to make a payment (€12 per person, non-refundable) via Revolut (99492628, George Gregoriou), BOC QuickPay (99492628, George Gregoriou), or Bank of Cyprus transfer to reserve your seat(s) on the buses. Bus capacity is limited to 108 seats, and seats will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please bring water, snacks/fruit, and something for lunch, as the group will not have time for a full lunch at a restaurant.
